Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Cillian Murphy
Talk about credibility. Meyers has been so convincing in his role as Henry VIII in The Tudors that we have replaced our mind's eye picture of King Frisky. Rather than the image of a pear-shaped gent in tights, we now have a menacing ride with a posh West Cork accent. Viewers of the last series are left with only one question. Are the make-up people performing miracles in the way they are ageing the king, or is Meyers doing it himself with his infamous lifestyle?
Looking at Cillian Murphy, above left, on the red carpet for his recent performance in Inception, you couldn't help thinking that he's joined Meyers on the Hollywood A-List. Then he talks in his unaffected Cork accent and you realise he could say "dis acting game is daycent, sham" at any moment. He's on the verge of making the Cork accent sexy and cool. Fair play.
